well, the staff is very promising for the future, and has 3 pitchers that can make immediate impacts in Eaton, Papelbon, and Beckett. Beckett I feel also has Cy Young candidate type of stuff. It should be an excellent year for the Pirates, compaired to recent years. The starting pitching will make or break the season in my opinion. Young, and inexperienced are most, but they all have a promising career ahead of them.

Well, that's a very good question, and quite frankly I am not sure. But do keep asking. NEXT QUESTION! (man, I'm begining to feel like Drew Rosenhaus...lol )

Why do are you acting like Drew Rosenhaus LOL kidding. You lost one of you greatest outfielders in Jason Bay. How do you think your team will do without him?

in the deal with losing bay i acquired some excellent players that brough me in additional talent, such as cain, lowry, taveras, papelbon. young players that will be commited to the pirates excellence....
kc...i think we'll do great, we aquired more solid players in return for the superstars. I feel each deal benefited and will continue to benefit me in the future. hopefully we'll pull out a .500 record this year.

You have gone away from the route everyone thought you would take by not rebuilding and actually trying to make a run now. Do you feel it is possible (if you're pitching stays healthy) that you can make a run for the division against the Cards?

absolutely. We'll need 3 or 4 over achievers on this team, including some starting pitching and our outfield. Our infield should put up solid production numbers throughout and the outfield and our starters will definately be the key. I also wouldn't necesarily call it taking a run for it now, because in our deals our team age has actually lowered, except in acquiring CF Jim Edmonds, but we needed a power hitter and he was available for the right price. I feel in the next 2 to 3 years we'll be contending for the world series.

With the trading of Beckett, and seeing that you feel your starters need to over achieve, who do you see as the Ace of the staff who will be the leader for this club.

Well as of now, the job will be resting on Rookie Matt Cain, he is one excellent prospect and is already a good pitcher at 22. I see him stepping up and maybe winning 18-19 games for us this season.
